Liverpool fans have been showing their appreciation for retired former striker Fernando Torres on Twitter.

This comes after the official Liverpool Twitter account shared a post that included a video of one of Torres’ later appearances for the Merseyside club. The video contained two goals the striker scored in the 2-0 win against Chelsea in November 2010 before making his infamous move to the West-London club in the following January.

This tweet then led to a number of Liverpool fans replying to the tweet to share their love for the Spaniard.

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans showing there’s still some Reds that appreciate Torres:

Torres joined the Merseyside club in 2007 from La Liga side Atletico Madrid for a fee of £34 million (per Transfermarkt). During his time at Liverpool, Torres made 142 appearances in all competitions, scoring 81 and assisting 20 along the way (per Transfermarkt).

Despite some Liverpool fans still being upset with his move away from Anfield over eight years ago, there are still those in Merseyside that continue to appreciate Torres’ time at the club.

What do we think?
Even though he didn’t win any trophies at Liverpool, he had some very special moments at Anfield, scoring some extraordinary goals along the way, as can be seen in the video posted by the club. The one that comes to mind straight away was his wonderful long-range angled strike against Blackburn in April 2009.

But despite winning an FA Cup, a Europa League title and the Champions League during his time at Chelsea, most football fans, and the man himself would agree that Torres’ best years in the Premier League were at Liverpool.
