Chelsea fans have expressed their doubts on Twitter over the potential summer signing of Moussa Dembele from Lyon.

This comes as a result of Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips sharing a tweet on his page relaying a transfer rumour originally reported by the Daily Mail, which states that the West-London club are in the race to sign the Frenchman.

This rumour did not go down too well with some Chelsea fans who think the club should not sign Dembele.

Here’s a sample of Chelsea fans not wanting the club to sign the Lyon man:

According to Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old is worth £27 million. But Chelsea are currently serving a transfer ban in which they are not allowed to sign any player before the end of the 2020 January transfer window. So any move for Dembele or any other player will have to wait until the next summer transfer window at the end of this season.

Despite scoring eight goals in 11 Ligue 1 appearances so far this season (per Transfermarkt), some Chelsea fans are still not convinced their club should bring the Frenchman to West-London.

What do we think?

There is no doubting Dembele’s ability as a goal-scorer as he is currently the second-highest top scorer in the French League so far this season. Chelsea currently have Tammy Abraham, Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud as their striking options, so it’s not as if they’re desperate for another addition in that particular area.

Whether they would likely be open to buying another striker without getting rid of one first is uncertain. But as of right now, it seems the Chelsea fans have made their mind up about any potential move for Dembele.
