Celtic: Some fans tear into Sam Allardyce for comments about winning silverware

|

Some Celtic fans have criticised Sam Allardyce for his comments about how anyone can win silverware with the Hoops.

Allardyce was recently asked about Celtic and how well Brendan Rodgers did at Parkhead, but the Englishman was critical of the current Leicester City boss. He believes that anyone can win the Scottish Premiership with the Hoops, but Rangers are now coming close to dethroning Neil Lennon’s men soon.

Some Celtic fans have not been happy with the former Black Cats’ manager’s comments. They are having a dig at Allardyce and his inability to win trophies anywhere in his career.

Rodgers was in charge of the Parkhead side till the end of February but he left for Leicester, allowing Neil Lennon to take charge. The former Bolton and Hibernian boss returned and helped his former side win the eighth consecutive Premiership title.

Before Lennon’s arrival, Rodgers had helped the club win a domestic treble three times during his stay. He had also helped the club win the unprecedented Invincibles crown in the 2016-17 campaign.

Lennon himself had won three titles at the club before leaving for Bolton in 2014. He had also helped Hibernian earn promotion back to the Premiership from the Scottish Championship before returning to Parkhead.

Was Sam Allardyce right that it is easy to win the league with Celtic?

He was right

He was right

He's got no clue!

What do we think?

Lennon’s men are currently at the top of the Premiership standings. But it is much closer than it was before, as Rangers are right behind them, lagging only on goal difference.

While Allardyce is somewhat right about the fact that it is easier to win the Premiership with Celtic, but what Rodgers achieved was nothing short of historic. While there was no competition from Rangers, the fact that they went unbeaten in a single season is never easy to do.

Allardyce’s idea was, perhaps, right, but the manner in which they came out were not.
