Some Celtic fans believe that the Green Brigade ban for the upcoming Europa League game is self-inflicted because of the behaviour of some other fans.

It was confirmed yesterday that the Hoops have closed a part of the Green Brigade stand due to safety concerns from the authorities.

The club was handed out a fine of £12,900 by UEFA because the fans had displayed an offensive banner in their Europa League clash against Serie A giants Lazio. The Hoops were also fined for using flares in the Europa League games against Cluj and AIK.

A debate raged on Twitter about this issue and some Bhoys fans feel that the defaulters were warned about the issue before-hand.

Despite the controversy around the bans and the behaviour of the fans, the Hoops have been doing very well in the Europa League this season. The recent 2-1 win over Lazio was a true reflection of that.

They are currently at the top of their group in the Europa League, with a clash against Rennes coming up on Thursday. They have ten points on board, with Cluj at second with nine points. Lazio are at third with just three points on board and they are currently at risk of elimination after losing the two games to the Hoops.

In the Premiership, they are at the top of the league too. Fierce rivals Rangers are behind them only one goal-difference. Neil Lennon’s side recently beat Livingston 4-0, while Rangers beat Hamilton 3-1, meaning that the goal difference increased between the two sides.

Is the Green Brigade ban justified?

Yes, it is!

Yes, it is!

Overturn it!

Overturn it!

What do we think?

While some Celtic fans are entitled to their opinion about the ban and they can be negative about it, but the club has had to pay three fines in one campaign because of fan misconduct. And a certain section of the fanbase is letting the club down, in this regard. To teach that part a lesson, this ban is necessary.
