Some Celtic fans are absolutely gutted that outcast Scott Sinclair didn’t feature for the Hoops in their win in the Europa League against Stade Rennes.
Neil Lennon’s men picked up an impressive 3-1 win over the French visitors at Celtic Park recently, as they went onto top their European group for the first time in their history.
Lewis Morgan started, while Mikey Johnston also featured. Both of them scored a goal each and attacking midfielder Ryan Christie also got a goal from himself on the night.
But Sinclair didn’t play a single minute and that has sparked an angry reaction from many Hoops fans. They believe he should have played at least for some time.
Did Sinclair deserve a start against Rennes?
He deserved it
Sell him!
How the hell does Morgan get a game before Sinclair is beyond me and unacceptable for NL to treat Sinclair like this , he has always been a total pro and produce some big games for us over the last few years , Morgan is and never will be Celtic class , is it a case of shop window

Honestly why put Lewis Morgan in the team in front instead of Scott Sinclair, the boy isn’t Celtic quality

Lewis Morgan should be no where near Celtic Park let alone starting ahead of guys like Griffiths and Sinclair

It’s at that stage “who is Scott Sinclair, does he even play for Celtic”

Lewis Morgan starting tonight nothing against him but there’s just no chance he should be starting, Sinclair has 100% kicked his last ball for Celtic

Celtic starting with no actual strikers, Morgan starting with Sinclair (who we know can score) left on the bench, two actual strikers also left on the bench…. e x c e l l e n t

Something has to have gone on between Sinclair n Lennon
Sinclair can play as a ST n is twice the player Morgan is yet even in this type of situation he’s completely overlooked
I know Griff is there but he’s still no fully fit— Dom Schiavone (@Shiv1888) November 28, 2019
Sinclair has been out of favour at the club so far this season. He is yet to make a single appearance for the Hoops in the Europa League this but has played only six times in all competitions. Despite that, he has scored twice.
This is in stark contrast to last season, when the Englishman had played as many as 55 times in all competitions. He found the back of the net 17 times and racked up an impressive tally of six assists as well.
His numbers from the 2017-18 campaign under Brendan Rodgers were much better. He had played 55 times, but he had scored 18 times and racked up a tally of 17 assists as well.
He had joined the club from Aston Villa in the summer of 2016 when he had signed a four-year deal. He had played under Rodgers during their time at Swansea City as well.
What do we think?
Sinclair wasn’t missed by Celtic at all. The others who featured did very well and made history for the club. Johnston’s return from injury was impressive, as he scored a goal. While Sinclair could ideally have played in the game, there could well be an opportunity that comes in the next Europa League clash.
Now that the club has already qualified for the next round, Sinclair could well feature against Cluj.
