Some Aston Villa fans have expressed their desire for Conor Hourihane to be given a chance to start in Villa’s upcoming matches.
These calls came after Villa fan Twitter account @AVFCPride shared a post on their page with their wishes to see the midfielder given a chance to play in replacement of the injured Jack Grealish.
This tweet then gathered several responses from fellow Villa supporters who agreed with the page’s opinion.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans wanting to see Hourihane get a chance in the team:
He’s dangerous when he’s around or in the box, scores goals and proven it but he needs to stay up there, when we comes back he’s shit, technically one of our best players tho

Sure does need to start, I’d like to see more attacking options

Don’t even think it’s a bold statement I’d love too see him play more often

Correct. We lacked his attributes today. The quality delivery, the option from outside the box, plays for the shirt. All things we needed today. What a frustrating match to watch. #avfc

The Irishman, who is currently valued at £5.85 million, according to Transfermarkt, has been in and out of the Villa team since the beginning of the season, having played in seven of Villa’s 12 Premier League games (per Transfermarkt).
Quality, needs to be picked ahead of Luiz

It’s a factual statement. Nailed it.

He’d go straight in next to McGinn for me if Grealish isn’t fit. Effort wouldn’t be an issue with him.

What do we think?
Hourihane’s sporadic and rotational appearances have seen the central midfielder fail to go on a continuous run of consecutive games for Villa this season. The longest run of consecutive games Hourihane has played in this season in the Premier League is four from September to October (per Transfermarkt).
Maybe because of the poor performances from Marvelous Nakamba, John McGinn and Douglas Luiz at Wolves, this can allow Hourihane an opportunity to play again for Villa.
