Some Aston Villa fans have been pleading on Twitter for Henri Lansbury to start in their next game against Newcastle.

These calls for Lansbury to start in the next match after the international break came after Aston Villa fan Twitter account @AVFCchats shared a post throwing the question over to their followers.

This tweet then gathered replies from some Villa fans who were eager to share their opinions on the matter.

Here’s a sample of Villa fans eager to see Lansbury play in Villa’s next match:

Lansbury has appeared in just three Premier League matches for Villa so far this season coming on as a substitute. However, the Englishman has made two appearances in Villa’s three Carabao Cup games. In those two Cup appearances, the 29-year-old has assisted five of Villa’s eight goals (per TransferMarkt).

What do we think?

Villa fans’ calls for Lansbury to start in their next match against Newcastle comes as no surprise given the poor performances of some of the central midfielders that played in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves at Molineux.

Douglas Luiz, in particular, had a very bad game at the weekend, having been given a match rating of 5.9 from WhoScored, the lowest of any Villa player.

Maybe this will give Lansbury, who is valued at £1.35 million (as per Transfermarkt), the opportunity to earn Lansbury a starting place in Villa’s next game.
