Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to share their disappointment that Jack Grealish was not called up to the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
This comes off the back of a tweet shared by Villa fan account @villareport who relayed quotes from England manager Gareth Southgate talking about his decision to leave Grealish out.
This tweet then gathered a lot of replies from unhappy Villa fans who didn’t accept Southgate’s comments.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans not happy with Southgate:
Wide areas? He plays behind the striker… Southgate has picked them by reputation. Hudson Odoi puts one great cross in and bang! Straight into the squad.

What an absolute joke

Sterling is the only one further in his development otherwise, @JackGrealish1 is a match or more advanced than the others. Disappointed that #GarethSouthgate doesn’t see what us @AVFCOfficial Fans see week in and week out. He’s the #creative player @threelions_fans want to see

The fact he’s only considering him as a winger is fraudulent. His best is through the middle

Southgate’s apparent view of Grealish as a wide player is a surprise seeing as Grealish has predominantly played in the middle of the pitch for Villa so far this season.
Gareth, your excuses are making you a laughing stock now! Really starting look as though you have something personal against him! Head up Super Jack – you know where your appreciated!

Poor judgement by Southgate again talking nonsense jack should be in squad he’s good enough where ever he plays out wide or central joke of a decision

What do we think?
One of the main points the Villa fans have mentioned is the addition of Callum Hudson-Odoi ahead of Grealish. When comparing the two players, Grealish has a higher average of key passes per game (2.5) than Hudson-Odoi (2) proving him to be the bigger threat in terms of creating from midfield areas.
The question Grealish must be thinking now is what he has to do next to secure a place in the next England squad?
