Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to plead with their club to sign Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos in the upcoming January transfer window.

These calls came after Villa writer Gregg Evans shared a post on his Twitter account about the goal Morelos scored in Rangers’ midweek 2-0 Europa League win over FC Porto.

Interestingly, the Sun reported last month that the Colombian is on Aston Villa’s radar.

And, Dean Smith refused to comment on the links earlier today, but Gregg Evans has since stated that the Athletic have been told they won’t be moving for him in January.

Although, that doesn’t change the fact that some Villa fans want to see him at Villa Park.

Here’s a sample of Villa fans pleading for Morelos to join Villa:

Morelos, who is currently valued at £6.75 million, according to Transfermarkt, has been at Rangers since signing from HJK Helsinki in 2017 for a fee of £1.08 million. This season, the 23-year-old is on a very impressive goal-scoring run, having already scored 21 goals (per Transfermarkt).

His latest match for Rangers against Porto saw the striker not only score the first goal of the game, but he also assisted Rangers’ second goal just four minutes later (per WhoScored).

This latest star performance has made some Villa fans excited for a potential January swoop.

What do we think?

Morelos’ goal-scoring tally so far this season is strong enough to attract interest from the top teams of European football. But whether he would make the move to Birmingham in January is yet to be seen.

Morelos would be a good improvement on Villa’s current strike force. Compared to Wesley, Villa’s main striker this season, Morelos has scored eight league goals to Wesley’s four (per WhoScored).
