Some Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to call for Henri Lansbury to play in Monday’s match against Newcastle.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @astonforza shared a post on their page asking which midfielder they would like to see play in their next match.
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who said they would like to see Lansbury play in the match against Steve Bruce’s side.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans wanting Lansbury to play against Newcastle:
Let’s say Grealish starts on the wing, who’d you want to complete the midfield three on Monday? #avfc

I think Lansbury should be getting minutes from the bench at the minute. Prove his fitness as much as anything

Lansbury’s passing range and creativity is exactly what we miss in the middle when Jack plays on the wing.

I think Lansbury….his passing forward has been brilliant in the games he’s played. I rate the other 2 but a different dimension for this game maybe the key #utv

The Englishman has only made five appearances for the Birmingham club this season, but the 29-year-old has picked up five assists in those appearances (per Transfermarkt), which could be the reasoning behind some fans’ decision to put the midfielder’s name forward.
Lansbury criminally underrated creativity

Grealish and Lansbury will hopefully be in the team for the next game, need more attacking outlets and Newcastle really is a game we must be winning especially with the forthcoming games which are very difficult #avfc

What do we think?
Given his record for Villa this season, Lansbury has managed to contribute when called upon. If Dean Smith is looking to change up his starting XI, maybe this could see Lansbury earn his first Premier League start this season.
After all, the Villans have failed to win any of their last three games in the Premier League so something clearly isn’t working, with a possible switch in the midfield ranks worth a risk.
