Some Aston Villa fans have been expressing their wishes on Twitter for former-Villa winger Marc Albrighton to return to the club in the upcoming January transfer window.

This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @VillaTil1Die shared a post on their page wishing Albrighton a happy 30th birthday. The post also included a video of one of Albrighton’s goals during his time at the club.

This post then gathered numerous replies from Villa fans pleading for Albrighton to return to the Birmingham club.

Here’s a sample of Villa fans’ replies:

The 30-year-old left Villa in 2014 on a free transfer to Leicester City where he then became a Premier League champion in his second season at the Midlands club. During his five years at Villa, Albrighton made 102 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals and making 19 assists (per Transfermarkt).

Another couple of fans took the opportunity to plead for Albrighton to make a move back to Villa.

What do we think?

This season at Leicester, the Englishman, who is currently valued at £9 million, according to Transfermarkt, has only made eight appearances for the club in all competitions.  This could also be a factor in these recent calls for Albrighton to return to Villa in the upcoming January Transfer window.

If Albrighton were to make a move back to Villa, he would certainly get a good reception from the Villa fans.
