Aston Villa fans have been slating their striker Wesley on Twitter for his poor start to the season.
This wave of criticism came after Villa news Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their official page asking their followers to sum up Wesley’s 12 games for the club so far this season.
This post then led to a number of Villa fans sharing their opinions on the Brazilian striker, with most being less than favourable for the player.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans criticising Wesley on his performances this season:
Inconsistent. He’ll develop, but had ups and downs for sure

Frustrating

We don’t create a lot of chances for him, not sure if that is down to his movement or lack of quality in the wide areas

The 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £18 million, according to Transfermarkt, joined Dean Smith’s side in the recent summer transfer window from Belgian side Club Brugge for a fee of £22.5 million (per Transfermarkt). His drop in value already goes to show that he hasn’t exactly hit the heights since moving to Villa Park.
After becoming a regular starter for Villa in the Premier League this season, Wesley has yet to hit a consistent run of form having only scored four goals for the club so far. This has left some Villa fans critical with his performances.
Not good enough.

Horrendous
He is a passenger we don’t need— Antwilkes (@Antwilkes1) November 21, 2019
What do we think?
When you consider his age and his lack of Premier League experience, it would have been naive of Villa fans to expect Wesley to hit the ground running and produce fireworks in every appearance he makes for the club, but it’s safe to say that high expectations come with his hefty price tag.
That being said, for a club that are currently hovering around the relegation area in the Premier League table, their first-choice striker does need to improve his goal-scoring tally if Villa have any chance of keeping their place in the top tier this season.
