Former Bayern Munich man Niklas Dorsch can join Scottish Champions Celtic for a bargain fee according to a report by the Scottish Sun.

Dorsch, currently 21, is currently at 2. Bundesliga side Heidenheim and the report states that the Hoops are one of the clubs who are monitoring the Bayern Munich youth graduate.

The Scottish Sun claims that the midfielder has a low release clause, which could see Neil Lennon’s side fork out a little over £3million for the player. However, they also claim that Dorsch is expected to stay at the club till the end of the season, despite being currently open to a move to Scotland.

Important player for Heidenheim

The 21-year-old midfielder is a regular at Heidenheim this season. He has played 12 league games for the club, scoring once and racking up three assists on the way too. He has also played twice in the DFB Pokal for the club.

He was also a regular midfield player for the club last season. He played as many as 30 times in the 2. Bundesliga. Predominantly played as the defensive midfielder, Dorsch scored twice and assisted just as many times.

He joined the club in the summer of 2018 from Bayern, where he had played one game for the senior team.

Not just that, but Dorsch also captained the Bayern Munich II side for one season. He was handed the captain’s armband in the summer of 2017. He is currently part of the Germany Under-21s side, having played four times for them and scoring once too.

TIF Tactics

Lennon has played a 4-2-3-1 system regularly at Celtic Park so far this season. Callum McGregor and Scott Brown have played as the two central midfielders in every game. McGregor has played 12 times in the league and so has Brown.

But the latter isn’t getting any younger with every passing day. Indeed, they’re the club’s only genuine defensive midfield options this season, with Luca Connell still 18 and Olivier Ntcham slightly further forward. Nir Bitton isn’t a regular defensive midfield option either.

But Dorsch is still young and his stock is still rising. He will add quality and depth to a club that aspires to go far in the Europa League this season. For a fee that is as low as £3million, the Hoops can’t afford to miss out on the player. Since he is 21, there is the potential of a big resale value as well, should clubs become interested in signing him in the future.
