Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have buzzed over Portuguese midfielder, Joao Moutinho, signing a new contract with the club until 2022.

Following the clash with Bournemouth on Saturday, it was announced the 33-year-old middleman had put pen to paper which would see him stay at Molineux for a further two seasons after this term (as per Wolves).

The article was then shared to Twitter via the club’s official social media account (via Wolves), which allowed fans the opportunity to gush over Moutinho and his new deal.

In Wolves’ latest victory on Saturday, the 2-1 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, Moutinho picked up an outstanding 9/10 performance rating (per Express and Star).

The Portuguese 33-year-old bagged the opening goal for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side with a sublime free-kick midway through the first half (as per BBC).

Across his season and a half in the Midlands, Moutinho has netted two and assisted 15 in 67 outings (per Transfermarkt) and supporters were delighted that he would be staying for a further two years.

What do we think?

The Portuguese midfielder is certainly showing his class so far this term, with an impressive 7.05/10 average rating for the season so far (as per Whoscored).

While there seems to be no signs that the 33-year-old will be past it anytime soon, a deal for another two years after this term makes sense for all parties and supporters are rightly delighted.
