Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have shown their delight for Matt Doherty following his first international goal for Ireland.

The full-back bagged his first goal for his country in their 1-1 draw with Denmark, however, that was not enough to help them to Euro 2020 qualification (per The Guardian).

With Doherty’s goal being relayed to Wolves supporters via The Athletic journalist, Tim Spiers, many were delighted for the 27-year-old Irishman (per Tim Spiers).

The right-sided full-back has already featured in 17 competitive games at club level this term, bagging two goals and an assist in 1,212 minutes of action (per Transfermarkt).

For Ireland, his cap on Monday night marked his ninth appearance for Mick McCarthy’s side and fourth of this European Championship qualification campaign (per Transfermarkt).

What do we think?

While the full-back, who is valued at £13.5 million (as per Transfermarkt), will be delighted to have bagged his first goal on the international stage, it will be marred with the fact Ireland was unable to net another to qualify for Euro 2020 (per Irish Times).

The Green Army will now go into the Euros play-off for qualification, where Doherty will, surely, heavily feature.
