Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters have reacted to the supposed January signing, Jose Sa, from Olympiacos.
According to Greek news outlet Sportime, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side and Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City are interested in bringing the Portuguese goalkeeper to the Premier League (via Sport witness).
With the Old Gold already having Rui Patricio and John Ruddy at their disposal in the first team (per Transfermarkt), some supporters were not bothered about the potential newcomer.
Not a position we’re crying out for back up in
— harry (@harrydispirit) November 14, 2019
Why? We don’t need him. Patricio is our number 1 and Ruddy is a more than capable number 2
— Tre (@AuntyTwe) November 14, 2019
Ruddy seen as surplus then?
— StoneWolf (@Stonewolf68) November 14, 2019
Why? Patricio is firmly established as first choice and a fantastic keeper. Jose Sa isn’t going to be content with 5,6 games per season.

However, Ruddy is not getting any younger at the age of 33, neither is Patricio who is 31 – with the Olympiacos stopper much younger than both at 26 (via Transfermarkt).
Need a good goalkeeper to challenge Rui Ruddy a bit past his best

Debatable, Patricio 32 Ruddy contract ends next year, Norris in and out of Ipswich team so not good enough and Burgoyne ain’t great

Wouldn’t say no, especially if Rui gets injured
— Ben (@BVitler) November 14, 2019
Would be a strange transfer imo, he’ll never get a game while Rui is fit outside domestic cups and he’s too good to be on the bench, Rui has a good 5-6 years in him as long as he avoids bad injuries

What do we think?
With both of the Old Gold’s first-team stoppers north of 30, despite goalkeepers being able to play into their 40s, it may be sensible for Espirito Santo to explore options beyond Ruddy past his contract expiry.
Coupled with Sa’s impressive record this season across the Super League 1 and Champions league, conceding only 14 goals and keeping 12 clean sheets in 20 games (per Transfermarkt), the Portuguese ‘keeper clearly has some talent.
