Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters have fumed after Cristiano Ronaldo ‘stole’ Diogo Jota’s goal for Portugal.
In Wolves’ 22-year-old’s second appearance for his country, a 2-0 victory over Luxembourg, Cristiano Ronaldo bagged his 99th goal for his country (per BBC).
However, the Juventus attacker was perceived to have ‘stolen’ Jota’s goal, by hammering the ball home on the line when it was already destined for the back of the net from the 22-year-old’s boot (per The Sun).
Following a post to Twitter from the Old Gold’s attacker, many supporters aired their frustration that the goal was taken away from Jota.
Just a shame ronaldo took your goal. Would have had a goal in ur 2nd cap. Plenty of goals to come tho. Hatrick against Bournemouth this weekend he

The £31.5-million rated man has bagged four goals and five assists for the Old Gold in all competitions so far this term (per Transfermarkt).
Over the current international break, Jota has played his first minutes for his country, across two late substitute appearances for Portugal (via Express and Star).
With Wolves supporters furious he had not been able to add his first international goal within his first games for his country, many continued to fume.

What do we think?
Ronaldo is going for the record of the most senior goals in men’s international football, which is ten away from where he is currently (as per BBC), and will seemingly do anything to aid his cause.
While Jota will just be pleased to be getting his first minutes for his country, it does seem a little callous of the Juventus star to take a debut goal of the 22-year-old’s toes.
