West Ham’s Conor Coventry played for Republic of Ireland’s 21’s in the 4-1 win over Sweden, leaving these fans impressed with his performance.
Coventry’s only first-team outing this season came in the League Cup, however, he only managed to play for eight minutes. The 19-year-old played the full 90 minutes for the Republic of Ireland U21’s, which is the performance that these fans found impressive.
A brilliant performance from @conorcoventry as #IRLU21?? beat Sweden last night…

Better start putting him in the first team over that jobber Sanchez before we lose him

Looks like a young @mattholland8, no?

Conor Coventry has been superb for both club and country all season so far; both him and Holland deserve to feature from the bench for the first team – especially given how our first team midfielders are lacking any form or consistency. West Ham need to give youth players chance.

Get them in the first team.

Coventry could, perhaps, replace someone like Carlos Sanchez, with the Colombian only managing to play 14 minutes so far this season.
Can’t beat loyalty,

Idk, maybe play him then? But, what do I know

Well done Conor

What Do We Think?
As stated above, Coventry should at least have a spot on the bench over Sanchez; with a 14 year age gap between the duo and the South American hardly been used by Manuel Pellegrini, it just seems a complete no brainer. If the 19-year-old cannot get a suitable amount of game time at West Ham, then maybe the Hammers should consider loaning him out to a League One or Two side, just so he can play regular first-team minutes and get further experience under his belt.
