West Ham United star Manuel Lanzini was stretchered off and needed to be given oxygen towards the end of the defeat up at Burnley. The Argentinian appeared to be in agony and was taken to hospital with what was initially suspected as a dislocated shoulder.

However, it has since come to light that Lanzini has suffered a fracture in his collarbone and requires surgery to fix the problem (Sky Sports). A sour ending to a game in which Manuel Pellegrini’s side failed to perform and suffered a 3-0 defeat, increasing the pressure on the 66-year-old coach.

Despite the severity of Lanzini’s injury, these supporters had no sympathy whatsoever and their frustration at the side’s poor run of form showed through in their replies.

What do we think?

The pressure is increasing on Pellegrini, as his side have failed to win in their last six Premier League fixtures and find themselves languishing in 16th place. Lanzini came off the bench at the weekend when the Hammers were already three goals down and, just when the West Ham faithful thought it couldn’t get any worse, they’ve lost another player to injury.

Although we’re yet to see the best of the £18m-rated man (TransferMarkt) this season, it’s worth noting that despite the 26-year-old featuring in 11 of the clubs 12 league fixtures, he’s only made the starting line-up 58% of the time.  The former River Plate man is expected to miss the rest of the year through injury and although not a starter at present, Lanzini is second in the chart for assists at the London Stadium as Felipe Anderson leads the way on four.
