Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham future is in doubt. The Hammers have slumped down to 16th place in the Premier League and there have been calls for the 66-year-old to be sacked by some sections of the support.

Seven weeks into the season, the Hammers were sitting in fifth place (The London Evening Standard), level on points with Arsenal in fourth and were tipped by some to qualify for Europe following their win against Manchester United.

There have been calls for the Chilean to be dismissed from his hotseat at the London Stadium, however there appears to be some conflicting news around his current situation in the east-end of the capital.

Speaking on social media in the aftermath of the defeat at Burnley, insider ExWHUemployee said: “Well I have mixed news. Those close to the board are saying they have no intention of sacking him (Pellegrini) and he will be in charge for next couple of games at least.”

“Those close to Pellegrini do not think he has long left. Either way I’m convinced he will be the manager against Spurs.”

When asked if Pellegrini was likely to walk away, ExWHUemployee had his doubts.

“Doubt it he would lose huge amounts of compensation,” ExWHUemployee added.

TIF Tactics – Is Pellegrini the right fit?

There is no doubting Pellegrini’s pedigree as a manager. The Chilean has won the Premier League with Manchester City, two League Cups, an Ecuadorian Championship and the Copa Sudamericana. His appointment back in May 2018 was met with great excitement and he was described by Joint-Chairman David Sullivan at the time as “one of the worlds most respected football coaches.

The supporters are torn in regards to who is responsible for the clubs recent struggles. The season started so promisingly but a poor recent run of results has seen the clubs ambitions of qualifying for Europe turn to concerns regarding their Premier League safety.

Pellegrini’s vast experience and know-how should, in theory, be enough to steady the sinking ship but based on these reports, he could be cut-loose prior to things reaching a state of emergency.
