Spurs fans are worried about both Giovani Lo Celso and Juan Foyth after it was confirmed that they would both be starting against Brazil for Argentina on Friday, with several Spurs faithful concerned that the two could pick up injuries.

Lo Celso, who signed on loan from Real Betis in the summer, was ruled out of the early season after picking up a hip injury on international duty; with the midfielder only recently making his first start for the club against Red Star Belgrade. Foyth also made his first start of the season in Serbia.

Foyth has been regularly benched in place of Serge Aurier; despite the Ivorian struggling for form. The 21-year-old has rarely featured since joining in 2017; with just 29 appearances to his name, but he has established himself as the number one right-back for Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina team.

With the two finally making their first Spurs appearances of the season in recent weeks, fans are concerned that any injury they might receive on international duty could stifle their progress for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the news, which was reported by Argentinian outlet El Intransigente (via Daily Hotspur), that both players are expected to start against Brazil, can be seen in the tweets below.

These tweets show that Spurs fans are clearly worried about Lo Celso and Foyth getting injured for Argentina over the international break.

What do we think?

Although Argentina are playing in two friendlies rather than competitive games on Friday and Monday, they are playing two of their historic rivals in Brazil and Uruguay, so it would be a surprise if the games are played in a ‘friendly’ nature. Lo Celso has only just come back from injury himself, so Spurs fans will, of course, be hoping that the 23-year-old manages to escape this international fixture unscathed.
