Spurs fans were given the positive update that their number one keeper Hugo Lloris is expecting to be back fit bu January, as he continues to recover from his fractured elbow injury.

Lloris, who signed from Lyon in 2012, suffered the nasty injury in Spurs’ 3-0 loss at Brighton in October, landing awkwardly on his elbow after dropping a cross. The French international has been a regular in the Spurs side in his seven years at the club; accumulating 307 appearances for the North London side.

Paulo Gazzaniga has been the man to step up for Spurs in Lloris’ absence and has been doing a stellar job, which has led to a lot of Spurs fans suggesting he should keep his spot in the side even when the Frenchman returns.

The 32-year-old gave fans an update, saying (M6, via Football London): “Everything is well, I will take time to make sure I am well healed and that I can come back in top form.”

Reaction from Spurs fans to Lloris’ update can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans are, of course, hoping to see Lloris back from injury as soon as possible, but it seems as if a lot of fans favour Gazzaniga after his recent form.

What do we think?

Lloris is a top-quality keeper and club captain at Spurs, but Gazzaniga has proved himself with recent inspired displays against Liverpool and Red Star Belgrade. Lloris may struggle to regain his spot in the side if Gazzaniga can maintain his form but when he does come back to full fitness he will no doubt give Mauricio Pochettino a selection headache with both men capable of putting in solid performances.
