Spurs fans are far from happy with Mauricio Pochettino after the Argentinian manager told press in midweek that he was “happy” with Christian Eriksen’s latest performances, according to Jonathan Veal.

Eriksen has been subject to a lot of criticism from Spurs fans in recent weeks, with the Denmark international averaging a 6.68 rating this season. The 27-year-old has been a regular since signing from Ajax in 2013, but Spurs fans don’t want him anywhere near the team following a summer in which he made his intentions to leave very clear.

Despite Eriksen’s disappointing start to the season and his possible intention to either leave in January or let his contract expire next summer, Pochettino is seemingly happy with his performances, which is making Spurs fans worry that he will continue to feature until January at least.

Reaction from Spurs fans to Pochettino’s comments about Christian Eriksen’s recent form can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans are clearly less than happy with Pochettino’s latest comments on Eriksen, and they may be even more disgruntled after witnessing the Danish midfielder on the field tonight.

What do we think?

The only perceivable reason for Pochettino’s comments are that he is trying to maintain Eriksen’s value in the transfer market ahead of January.

The wantaway man is valued at £90 million currently and no doubt Pochettino would love to see the club receive a hefty chunk of that if the 27-year-old leaves in January, but at the moment it is difficult to see many clubs even wanting to pay half of that fee or even being interested in the former Ajax man.
