Jose Mourinho has already made a big impact on a lot of Spurs fans since being appointed the new manager at the North London club, but it seems as if the 56-year-old is already making big strides with some key players in the squad.

According to Portuguese outlet Record (via Sport Witness), Mourinho held private conversations with seven players; including Toby Alderweireld, Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen, whom he will reportedly try to convince to stay with him at Spurs.

Mourinho signed a contract until 2023 with Spurs following Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking on Tuesday and is already thinking ahead to the summer; where he will, of course, want to avoid losing two key Spurs players on a free transfer.

Of course, Eriksen, who signed for Spurs from Ajax in 2013, has has certainly contributed a lot  during his six years in North London, but made his intentions to leave the club in the summer clear following Spurs’ Champions League final defeat. The Danish international was expected to be followed out of the club by Toby Alderweireld but a failure to sell both seriously cost Spurs in the summer transfer window and perhaps cost Mauricio Pochettino his job.

Both Alderweireld and Eriksen have been large disappointments for Spurs so far this season; averaging 6.7 and 6.73 ratings respectively, but a chance of manager could soon change their seasons around.

TIF Tactics:

Although both players have started poorly, it is no surprise that Mourinho is keen to keep both players at the club, with the hopes that their performances will improve dramatically under new management. Of course, after catching wind of Mourinho wanting to keep both players at the club, perhaps they’ll sign new deals in the near future.
