Lots of Spurs fans were once again singing the praises of Paulo Gazzaniga as he earned a clean sheet in Spurs’ Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday.

Gazzaniga, who signed from Southampton in 2017, made a key save in the first half in Belgrade to help keep the score at 0-0. The 27-year-old has proved an excellent stand-in for usual number one Hugo Lloris, who was sidelined in October due to an elbow injury.

The Argentine has been very impressive in recent games and earned the plaudits once again on Wednesday night, earning a 7.57 rating from WhoScored. This takes Gazzaniga’s average rating to 7.14 which is excellent considering Spurs’ recent poor form.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have kept just one clean sheet in the Premier League so far this season and fans will be hoping that their strong display against Red Star will lead to more defensive solidity in upcoming domestic games.

Some of the best reactions from Spurs fans to Gazzaniga’s performance can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans were clearly delighted with Gazzaniga’s performance in helping to secure a win and clean sheet against tricky opponents on Wednesday night.

What do we think?

Gazzaniga continues to prove himself as a very reliable back-up to Hugo Lloris and may be unfortunate to lose his spot to the Frenchman when he returns from injury.

With Michel Vorm already brought in as a back-up, perhaps Mauricio Pochettino does not need to look for a new goalkeeper in January, considering Gazzaniga’s recent performances.
