Spurs fans were handed the positive news that French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has returned to training this week.

Ndombele, who signed for Spurs from Lyon in a club-record deal over the summer, had been out with a minor injury following the game against Sheffield United before the international break. The 22-year-old has been hit and miss so far for the North London side, but has largely impressed with his performances in the Champions League; in which he has averaged a 7.65 rating.

However, it seems as if regular Premier League action proved too much for the midfielder, as he admitted that his half-time withdrawal against Sheffield United was down to fatigue. The Frenchman wasn’t deemed to start in Jose Mourinho’s first game in charge against West Ham on Saturday but could be in line to make an appearance in Today’s home game against Olympiakos.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the news that Ndombele has returned to training can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans are clearly delighted to see Ndombele back in first-team training and will be hoping to see him starting games under Mourinho soon.

What do we think?

Of course the return of Ndombele is good news for Mourinho and Spurs, however, the new boss may be less forgiving of the 22-year-old’s poor fitness than Mauricio Pochettino was. With both Eric Dier and Harry Winks making rare starts at the weekend, it seems as if Ndombele will have added competition for a spot in midfield.
