Spurs fans were not happy to see that summer signing Giovani Lo Celso has received an international call-up for Argentina this week, with many fearing that the midfielder may get injured.

Lo Celso, who signed on loan from Real Betis in the summer, is yet to start a game for Spurs this season, with his five appearances so far all coming from the bench. However, he has still done enough to convince Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni he is worthy of a place in the team.

The 23-year-old midfielder suffered an injury during the last international break during a match against Chile and only returned to training in early October.

Lo Celso and fellow Spurs man Juan Foyth will be away with Argentina for their matches against Brazil and Uruguay, which take place in the next international break on the weekend of 16th November.

With Lo Celso nearing full fitness following his early-season injury, many Spurs fans are reluctant to see the loanee leave the club and risk another injury.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the news of Lo Celso’s call-up can be seen in the tweets below.

Clearly, Spurs fans are not too happy with the news that Lo Celso will be playing for Argentina during the international break, with several fans suggesting that Mauricio Pochettino should pull him out of the squad.

What do we think?

Spurs fans are rightly not happy that Lo Celso has been selected following his recent injury and it is a surprise that Pochettino is willing to see the 23-year-old go after his injury in the last international game. Lo Celso must be nearing a first start with the club, especially considering the poor form of fellow attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen, with just two contributions to his name this season.

Spurs have an obligation to buy Lo Celso should they qualify for the Champions League, so perhaps Pochettino is keen to avoid sending £60 million to Real Betis by purposely not playing the Argentinian.
