After Danny Rose announced his intention to run down his contract with the club earlier in the week, it seems as if Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld all plan on doing the same, with a lot of fans calling for the ‘contract rebels’ to be dropped from the first-team.

Rose, whose contract runs out in the summer of 2021, announced that he would not leave the club for any transfer fee and expects to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of next season. According to the Daily Star (via RickySacks) all three of Eriksen, Vertonghen and Alderweireld are considering letting their contracts run down ahead of there expiry at the end of the season.

With Spurs languishing in 14th place in the Premier League following a dreadful start, it seems as if fans would be more than happy to see these three players leave in January, rather than continuing to employ them.

Here are the responses:

Spurs fans are clearly furious with these players’ reported decision to run down their contracts, with the majority wanting to see them benched for the rest of the season.

What do we think?

It can’t be helping Spurs to have a number of key first-team players having no desire to play for the club and it’s drastically affecting them both on and off the pitch. All of Eriksen, Vertonghen, and Alderweireld have had nightmare starts to the season after being some of Spurs’ most consistent players over the last few years.

Mauricio Pochettino has a big decision to make when it comes to playing them when they have seemingly admitted that they want to leave and it seems as if a lot of Spurs fans just want to see them depart the club.
