Spurs fans gained an unlikely hero on Tuesday night after club ball-boy Callum Hynes played a major part in Spurs’ equaliser, reacting quickly to throw the ball to Serge Aurier for a throw-in which led to the home side’s second goal. 

The 15-year-old was praised by Jose Mourinho in his post-match interview for his quick thinking and reactions to give the ball to Aurier who in turn fed Lucas Moura, whose cross was clinically finished by Harry Kane for the equalising goal. He was also rewarded with a high-five from the new Spurs boss, who was able to guide the team to Champions League knockout stage qualification in his first home game as manager of the North London club.

In an interview with the club, the ball-boy described the experience as one of the best of his life, saying: “You can see from my smile it was just unbelievable. Jose didn’t have to do that. It was really nice of him to come over to me. It’s made my day, my life, really! I love Spurs and it was an amazing moment I’ll never forget.”

The ball-boy has certainly made himself a hero amongst Spurs fans for his actions, as can be seen in the tweets below.

Spurs fans were clearly big fans of the youngster’s actions on Twitter after he played a big part in Mourinho’s side coming back against Olympiakos.

An embrace from Mourinho is certainly something he won’t forget in a hurry.
