Spurs fans were treated to the sensational news this week that chairman Daniel Levy would be open to re-signing Real Madrid star Gareth Bale and has held talks with Jose Mourinho about the possibility.
According to BR Football (via Ricky Sacks), Levy would be willing to negotiate a deal with the former Spurs man if Mourinho felt that he was what was needed, although he will have to seriously negotiate the 30-year-old down from his current reported £600,000 a week at Los Blancos. Bale was with the North London club between 2007 and 2013; scoring 56 goals for the club in 203 appearances before his world-record move to the Spanish giants.
Despite winning four Champions League’s with Real Madrid, including the stunning winning goal against Liverpool in the 2017-18 final, Bale seems to be far from popular at the Bernabeu. Indeed, he was recently pictured with a Welsh flag after their Euro 2020 qualification; which stated “Wales, Golf, Madrid. In that order”, which certainly won’t have improved his popularity within the Madrid fanbase.
Would Gareth Bale be a good signing for Spurs?
Yes
No

I was at that game Vs United at Old Trafford when he scored & it was at that moment I knew he was destined to leave. I’d welcome him back, even if he is injury prone. I just want to see him in a Spurs shirt again. The Madrid fans hate him after all he done!#ComeHomeGareth

That’s such a mourinho signing but equally so not a Levy one. My mind was blown with mourinho so idk what to consider realistic anymore. Not impossible imo.

If he wants to fall in love with club football again there is only one club. He’ll have to take a pay cut so it’s down to him. BUT, can you imagine

Lots of Spurs fans would obviously love to see Bale back at the club, but remain doubtful about how the club would afford his wages.
What do we think?
Bale needs to leave Real Madrid and enjoy club football for the last few years of his career. He is 30-years-old now and his injury-proneness could mean that the Spanish club let him go for less than his current £54 million Transfermarkt valuation.
The Welshman has two goals and two assists in just seven appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side this season, which suggests that while he is unlikely to be first-choice in the Madrid squad these days, he certainly still has a lot of talent and could contribute should he make a return to England.
