It seems as if Spurs fans are starting to lose patience with Daniel Levy and the rest of the board at the club, after it was reported yesterday that Danny Rose would add to the list of players who were planning on running down their contract.
Rose, who has been with the club since 2007, spoke openly about his intentions to leave on a free when his contract expires next summer and will refuse to leave Spurs before then.
This angered a lot of Spurs fans on Twitter, as Rose joins the likes of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, who all are yet to resolve their respective contract situations.
This is an alarming number of first-team players who seem to have lost any desire to play for the club and it seems as if fans feel the blame lies with Daniel Levy and the other board members. The North London club have had a nightmare start to the season; currently sitting 14th in the table with just three wins to their name and this news is certainly not helping the poisonous atmosphere that seems to be affecting the club at the moment.
Thoughts on the latest player wanting to leave the club and the current situation at Spurs can be seen in the tweets from fans below:
He’s basically having a sulk because we won’t give him a fat new contract, so says he’s going to stay and see out his contract. Let’s see how he likes it being third choice left back and not getting any games!

It kinda feels like its the manager and the players v the board here don’t you think? Rose does say he respects and has a great relationship with Poch. So maybe the rift between Poch/Levy that was cleared over dinner, was bigger than led on

Levy’s strategy of treating players like assets has finally caught up on him. Players are running down the clock and playing badly because they are not feeling the love. Levy has a lot more to do with this mess that we think.

Further evidence that the board are making decisions without talking to Poch. His comments about not being the manager and just being the coach make more and more sense.

Pay him 18 months wages upfront and get rid. Should do the same with other freebie’s in Jan. doing more harm than good

Let’s be honest, I for one thought after we managed to get through last season on a threadbare squad, and got to champions league final. I thought, here we go wait until we strengthen squad. Then we fall off a cliff. Unbelievable. Levy 60% to blame.

The board have created this mess with 3 senior players set to leave for £0. The irony is when players don’t want to honour their contracts they are castrasized for being greedy & disloyal and yet when players like Rose look to honour their contracts they get the same criticism.

Spurs fans are clearly not sympathetic to Rose’s situation but feel as if the board are the main ones to blame as they look set to lose yet another senior first-team player on a free transfer.
What do we think?
Pochettino has in the past discussed how he feels like the ‘coach’ of Spurs and not the manager and it’s starting to become clear what he means by that. The board are creating a toxic atmosphere at the club which is seriously impacting Spurs’ performance both on and off the pitch.
Rose is valued at £22.5 million and that’s more money that the club will miss out on when he leaves for a free next summer. It’s difficult to see a way out of this mess for Spurs at the moment.
