Despite Christian Eriksen having featured in both of Jose Mourinho’s first two games in charge, it seems as if he still plans to leave the club in the summer.

Eriksen, who signed from Ajax in 2013, could leave the club on a free transfer in the summer when his contract expires. Spanish outlet AS (via Sport Witness), did a piece on five reasons why Eriksen could be set for an exit.

The report claims that Eriksen still ‘wants to make the leap’ despite Mourinho’s appointment and still plans to move away from the club. He feels it’s the ‘perfect time’ and that staying for longer will count against him as the years go by, which Sport Witness state is likely to be spot on.

The Danish international has made 293 appearances for the North London side in his six years at the club but looks set to depart in the near future.

Although Eriksen is valued at £90 million (Transfermarkt), it seems as if Spurs will have to deal with losing the creative midfielder on a free transfer. Eriksen’s form under Pochettino wasn’t great, but the attacking midfielder impressed against Olympiakos on Tuesday night, making a real difference from the bench.

Despite Mourinho looking for more clarity over the future of his players, it seems as if Eriksen’s intentions to leave have not changed in recent weeks.

Spurs should try their best to at least bring in some money for Eriksen in January before he potentially leaves in the summer so that Mourinho has more funds available to try and overhaul the squad and turn Spurs’ season around.
