Spurs fans were treated to a video of an excellent team goal against Sunday’s opponents Everton on Twitter this week, which triggered a lot of Spurs fans wanting the return of former midfielder Mousa Dembele.

The Belgian was one of the players involved in the video posted by the club, which led to many Spurs fans wanting to see him back in North London. Dembele, who signed for Spurs from Fulham in 2012, spent over six years with the club before a move to Guangzhou in January of this year.

The powerful midfielder was a mainstay in Spurs’ team over the years, making 249 appearances for the North London club. Dembele, who is now 32, had suffered from regular injuries during his time in the Premier League.

Interestingly, he has averaged an impressive 7.45 rating so far this season. So, with Spurs’ current woes, it seems as if many fans would welcome the Belgian back to the Premier League, as can be seen in the tweets below.

These tweets show that a lot of Spurs fans would welcome the former player back into Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

What do we think?

Spurs are missing that ball-carrying midfielder in their current squad, something which Dembele was always very good at. However, his injury record was the main reason he was sold and it would be surprising to see the Belgian back in the Premier League so soon, especially considering his strong form in China at the moment. Spurs fans may have their own Dembele replica in Tanguy Ndombele, if he can find his feet in the Premier League.
