Some Manchester United fans seem keen on seeing youngster Tahith Chong get loaned out to another club as soon as possible.

Chong grabbed a brace in United Under-23s’ impressive 4-1 win over the Middlesbrough Under-23s side last night. This took the 19-year-old goalscoring tally up to four goals in Premier League 2 and last night was only his third appearance in the side.

Chong has also played in the United first-team this season. He started in the club’s 1-0 win over Astana in the UEFA Europa League, also featuring in their League Cup game against League One side Rochdale.

The brace last night has seen many United fans demand a loan move for the Dutchman.

Chong made his Premier League debut for United in last season. He played one minute of the club’s 3-2 win over Southampton, playing about 30 minutes of their 1-1 draw away to Huddersfield at the end of the campaign.

The youngster also made an appearance for United in their miraculous 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, playing the last 10 minutes of the clash.

The Netherlands Under-21 international joined United from Feyenoord in the summer of 2016, when he had revealed his desire to don the famous Red Devils’ jersey.

Some United fans also believe that the brace against Boro will give Chong the confidence to play regularly in the first-team.

What do we think?

United’s pursuit of attacking players should be a concerning issue for Chong. The club has been linked with moves for Mario Mandzukic and Lyon’s Moussa Dembele, which means that the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial could be pushed to wider positions.

Chong, because of that, would need a loan move to get some first-team football. United had Axel Tuanzebe go out on loan to Aston Villa last season and he has come back as a first-team player. Chong has to do the same and stake a claim for the first-team next season.
