Some Manchester United have made it clear that they want their club to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara.

The Mali international has played four times in the Bundesliga for the East German club, also playing twice for them in their UEFA Champions League campaign so far.

In an interview that the player recently gave to FootMali, he talked about United present his ‘dream club’. He said (via Sport Witness):

“My dream club is Manchester United. I will fight with all my strength to one day play for that club”.

While there is some debate among United fans about the player, but there has been some positive response. A part of the fanbase would like the Mali international at Old Trafford.

The former RB Salzburg man joined Leipzig in the summer of 2018. Since arriving, he has played 19 times in the Bundesliga, scoring once and racking up a tally of two assists.

A central midfielder by trade, Haidara can also play on the two sides of midfield and is versatile enough to play slightly further forward too.

Salzburg was the midfielder’s first major European club he joined the Austrian giants after playing for FC Liefering after they brought him to the continent from Malian side JMG Academy Bamako (TransferMarkt).

United did not hand Ander Herrera a new contract this past summer and the Spaniard joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. The Red Devils also failed to sign a midfielder to replace the outgoing former Athletic Bilbao man.

What do we think?

Haidara is only 21 and hasn’t played much at a Champions League club. That, perhaps, suggests that United need a better alternative at the moment. Perhaps, someone who has more games under his belt at the top level. More so, the Mali international has only talked about the club himself. There have not been any reports that have linked him with a move to Old Trafford.
