Manchester City and England star Raheem Sterling has been nominated for the BBC’s sports personality of the year award. The 24-year-old was part of Pep Guardiola’s title-winning side who managed 98 points last season as well as one of England’s standout players.

Sterling has spoken out about racism and various other issues and the former Liverpool man has used his influence to try and impose a positive change in the world.

These Manchester City fans fully support their star and are backing him to take home the prestigious award as they replied to his tweet regarding the nomination.

What do we think?

Sterling has already managed seven goals in his 12 Premier League appearances this season and there are no signs of his performances dropping off. Under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola, he has developed into one of the world’s top players and the sky is the limit for this young man.

Sterling has not only displayed excellence on the pitch but he’s been at the forefront of the efforts to stamp out racism from our game and speaks articulately and calmly regarding topics that traditionally get people a little hot under the collar. A role model both on and off the pitch, the nomination should come as no surprise.
