Liverpool fans were treated to a video of Kevin de Bruyne speaking with Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah after Manchester City’s 3-1 defeat at Anfield on Sunday, a video that has left many fans hoping that the Belgian midfielder could join the Reds in the future.

De Bruyne joined Manchester City from Wolfsburg in 2015 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the world; scoring 43 times and assisting 76 in his 189 appearances for the Citizens.

The 28-year-old, like Mohamed Salah, struggled in his time at Stamford Bridge but has gone on to become world-class elsewhere in the Premier League.

The Belgian international has enjoyed a superb start to the season, with 10 assists to his name already and has averaged an impressive 7.77 rating in all competitions for City. It is no surprise therefore that Reds fans are keen on the midfielder and after seeing the video of De Bruyne talking with Jurgen Klopp and Salah, a lot are convinced that the boyhood Liverpool fan would favour a move to Anfield in the future.

Reaction from Reds fans to the video and the possibility of De Bruyne joining in the future can be seen in the tweets below.

One supporter even suggested he would have been the perfect successor for Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool fans are clearly keen on De Bruyne and this video has certainly raised fans’ hopes of signing him in the future.

What do we think?

Although De Bruyne and Liverpool could be a great fit, it would be a surprise to see Manchester City let one of their star players leave for their title rivals for any reasonable amount of money. The Belgian international is currently valued at £117 million, so it would be a surprise to see Klopp make a move for the former Genk man anytime soon.

If Liverpool can bring him in, however, it would be difficult for any team in the Premier League to stop them.
