Reds fans have been handed a blow ahead of next weekend’s trip to Crystal Palace after it was confirmed that left-back Andrew Robertson could be a doubt for the game.

The Scottish defender has been ruled out of Scotland’s qualifying games against Cyprus and Kazakhstan, with Reds fans fearing that he could miss out on their next Premier League fixture at Selhurst Park.

Robertson joined from Hull in 2017 and has established himself as one of the best left-backs in world football in his two years with Liverpool; with Martin Keown recently baffled by his exclusion from the Ballon d’Or shortlist.

Robertson has helped Liverpool to successive Champions League finals and has gone from strength to strength under the management of Jurgen Klopp. The Scottish captain has enjoyed a superb start to this campaign; averaging a 7.3 rating in the Premier League with an impressive four assists from full-back.

Reds fans are rightly concerned that the 25-year-old could miss their next Premier League fixture, as they attempt to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Reaction from Liverpool fans to Robertson’s injury update can be seen in the tweets below:

These tweets show that Reds fans are quite worried over Robertson’s welfare and are hoping that he will be fit for the game against Crystal Palace next weekend.

What do we think?

Liverpool’s full-backs are essential to the way they play, demonstrated by the number of assists Robertson has accumulated in recent seasons. However, the Reds have a reliable back-up in James Milner who will no doubt be able to do a job if Robertson is forced to miss the trip to Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace.

But, Reds fans will, of course, be hoping that the Scotsman is back fit.
