Liverpool fans loved former England defender Micah Richards’ comments about Reds captain Jordan Henderson this week after he described the midfielder as “world-class”.

In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live (via AnfieldEdition) Richards spoke highly of the 29-year-old, saying: “Henderson is world-class and a lot of his work goes unnoticed”.

Having joined from Sunderland in 2011, the England international has gone on to become a regular in the Liverpool side and lifted the Champions League as captain of the Reds in May.

In his eight years with the club, Henderson has made 339 appearances for the Reds; scoring 26 goals in that time. The midfielder has had his fair share of doubters in his time at the club, but is now an ever-present in Klopp’s midfield featuring 13 times so far this season.

Reaction from Reds fans to Richards’ comments on Henderson can be seen in the tweets below.

Liverpool fans are clearly big supporters of their captain and clearly agree with Micah Richards’ praise of him.

What do we think?

Henderson is a real presence for Liverpool both on and off the pitch and has clearly justified his position as captain since accepting the role in 2015. Although his performances might not always be world-class, evidenced by his fairly poor average rating of just 6.69 this season, there can be no doubt that Henderson often steps up when Liverpool need him most.
