A lot of Liverpool fans have been getting excited over Liverpool’s reported interest in PSG forward Kylian Mbappe, although some are worried that his potential transfer could see fan-favourite Mohamed Salah depart the club.

According to Eldesmarque (via Express), Liverpool have stepped up their interest in the 20-year-old striker amidst interest from Real Madrid, but should Mbappe move to Anfield, Salah could move to Los Blancos in order to fund a move for the Frenchman; with a £215 million (€250m) deal rumoured.

Mbappe burst onto the scene with Monaco and was quickly snapped up by PSG, originally on loan, before they decided to sign him for around £165 million.

Liverpool fans may welcome the signing of one of, if not the most, promising youngster in world football but many fans are reluctant to secure the deal if it means Salah leaving the club.

Salah signed for Liverpool from Roma in 2017 and the Egyptian winger has enjoyed two incredible seasons in the Premier League,  scoring 59 goals in 84 league appearances for the Reds. The 27-year-old has continued this season in similar fashion to the last; averaging a 7.38 rating so far this campaign.

Reds fans reaction to the latest link with Mbappe and the possible departure of Salah can be seen in the tweets below.

Reds fans are clearly split over a potential move for Mbappe should it mean Salah departing for Real Madrid.

What do we think?

Salah has been an incredible player for Liverpool in the last few seasons but it is difficult to not get excited about the possibility of Mbappe in the Premier League. The 20-year-old helped France to a World Cup win last season, scoring four goals in the process.

If Mbappe’s possible arrival would mean the end of Salah’s career it would be a real shame but with so much of Salah’s game dependant on his electric pace, you do wonder if the younger Mbappe would be the better long-term option for the Champions League holders.
