Liverpool fans were delighted to hear that Virgil van Dijk is fully fit ahead of the Reds’ trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The 28-year-old defender, who signed for Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018, had been a slight worry for the game at Crystal Palace, but James Pearce revealed that the Dutch defender is “100% available to face Palace”. Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to Selhurst Park hoping to continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League and extend their lead at the top of the table.

Reds fans will no doubt be relieved that Van Dijk is available for what will no doubt be a tough trip to South London, especially with fellow first-choice defender Joel Matip still missing through injury. Van Dijk earned the PFA Player of the Year award for his performances in the league last season and was instrumental on the road to Champions League success in May.

Reaction from Reds fans to the news that Van Dijk is fit to face Palace can be seen in the tweets below.

These Liverpool fans are clearly delighted that Van Dijk will play against Palace and they will be hoping that Klopp’s side can extend their current eight-point lead over second-placed Leicester City.

What do we think?

After Van Dijk withdrew himself from international duty due to personal reasons, Reds fans may have been rightly concerned that the 28-year-old could miss the trip to Crystal Palace but it seems as if the Dutchman is back ready to face Roy Hodgson’s side. Van Dijk has averaged a 7.16 rating so far this season, although Klopp’s side are yet to match their defensive prowess from last season, with just two clean sheets to their name in the Premier League.
