Everton supporters were shocked over the players selected by Everton in the Community to attend a meet and greet with supporters.
On Wednesday, the Toffees’ community group announced that Gylfi Sigurdsson and Cenk Tosun would be meeting fans to support their charity calendar (as per Everton).
While in aid of a great cause, following the news getting shared to Twitter (via Everton in the Community), many supporters were baffled over the choice of players.
What a bad idea

Why, they will get absolutely verbally abused!

Yes can’t agree more what bad timing +two of the worst players to be going in front of our fans at the moment

This is the worst idea possible at the current state of the club, shambles @Everton

Not a good idea….

Should Everton have opted for two different players to attend the event?
Yes
No
Both the Icelandic and Turkish players started for Marco Silva in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Norwich City, with Sigurdsson picking up a 4/10 and Tosun not much better on a 5/10 (as per Liverpool Echo).
Tensions around the club remain high at the moment, with the sacking of the club’s 42-year-old gaffer seemingly inevitable (per Daily Mail).
With many disbelieving in the choice of players to attend the event, many discredited their recent form for the Toffees.
Siggurdson won’t show up, just like on a match day

Wow so not a good idea at the moment

Just Tosun turning up then as Sigurdsson will go missing as usual

What do we think?
While there may have been better options within the squad to be attending in an ideal world, the two players may just be the cards that Everton in the Community were dealt.
Either way, Sigurdsson and Tosun are two people trying to support a good cause, and you would hope that any animosity is put to one side.
Passion and emotion are the lifeblood of football, but sometimes that can be taken too far, hopefully, everything will run smoothly at the event and it will be fun for all.
