Fans of Everton have reacted to the news that Fabian Delph has left the England camp prior to the upcoming international ties.

The news was shared via a club post on Tuesday evening, stating that the 29-year-old had returned to Goodison Park to continue work with the Toffees’ medical staff (via Everton).

Delph missed the trip to Southampton on Saturday (via BBC), and it had been hoped he would be able to feature for Gareth Southgate’s side but was not deemed fit enough (per Everton).

The Englishman has struggled with injuries this term for the Toffees (via Liverpool Echo), and some supporters were not surprised to see him withdraw from the national squad, reacting with a hint of sarcasm.

The £13.5-million rated man joined the Toffees during the summer,  signing from Manchester City for a fee which can rise into the region of £10 million (via BBC).

Since signing at Goodison Park, the 29-year-old has made ten appearances for Marco Silva across the Premier League and Carabao Cup (via Transfermarkt).

With Everton’s well-documented injury woes in midfield (via Liverpool Echo), some supporters were pleased to see precautions were taken to see no further injuries caused.

What do we think?

Should the midfielder still be carrying the slight injury which kept him out of the trip to the Saints, then it is only sensible for the 29-year-old to return to Finch Farm to continue rehabilitation.

Delph has bagged a 6.68/10 average rating so far this term (per Whoscored) which, although not outstanding, he will still have a big part to play in the future.
