Eddie Howe and David Moyes have been highlighted as possible replacements for Marco Silva, according to Sky Sports.

In the report, published on Monday, it was revealed that the replacement could be in place as early as the clash against Leicester City on Sunday (as per Sky Sports).

Although, Howe, who has been on Everton’s shortlist in the past, is still favoured by some members of the Everton board.

Doubts over both

It is safe to say, that with both managers there are big potential considerations over whether they would be successful should they be given the nod to replace the Toffees’ struggling Portuguese gaffer (per The Express).

Firstly, the man who is more familiar with Goodison Park, Moyes, has struggled to leave a positive mark on any club since his departure from Merseyside in 2013 (per The Guardian).

Then, while Howe is doing a fantastic job on the south coast, the last time he ventured north – in a move to Burnley – he struggled for any form of success (via BBC).

TiF Tactics – Who is the better option of the two?

While the return of Moyes may already be set in stone, due to chairman Bill Kenwright’s longstanding admiration of the Scot (per The Mirror), he may not be the better option of the two.

Across the 56-year-old’s last four managerial jobs, he has not managed even half of the 516 games that he was at the helm for in 11 years at Goodison Park (as per Transfermarkt).

With Manchester United, he lasted 51, with Real Sociedad he had 42 games in charge, at Sunderland 43 and in his last managerial appointment he lasted only 31 games with West Ham (via Transfermarkt).

Whereas Howe, since returning to Bournemouth in 2012, has been at the helm for 328 matches and averaged an impressive 1.48 points per match with a relatively small club in England’s top-flight (per The Independent).

What the Toffees need right now are stability and the implementation of a long-term plan, which judging from their recent track records, they are much more likely to go with Howe over Moyes.
