Some Everton supporters have aired that they think Gylfi Sigurdsson should start against Leicester City following an injury update from Marco Silva.
In his pre-match press conference on Friday, ahead of the clash with the Foxes, the Portuguese manager explained that Fabian Delph and Morgan Schneiderlin were doubts for the tie (as per Everton).
Coupled with an injury sustained by Beni Baningime in the Leasing.com Trophy defeat to Fleetwood Town for the Under-21s (per Patrick Boyland), and the long-standing injury issues, Silva will be stumped for who starts in the centre.
With Tom Davies a certainty to start, Everton fans came up with a surprise pick for who should get the nod alongside the Englishman in the deeper midfield role.
So who do we start in midfield with all of those injuries then?
Davies and?

Id go
Pickford
Mina Keane
Sidibe Digne
Davies
Gylfi Iwobi
Kean Gordon

I’d say this is the perfect time to go 4-4-2 with Siggy and Davies central and Kean and DCL up top. Iwobi and Richarlison out wide

I think Sigurdsson should be played deeper.

Should Gylfi Sigurdsson get the nod to play deep alongside Tom Davies?Yes, we have no one better availableNo, surely there's someone else |
So far this term, the Icelandic international, who is valued at £31.5 million (Transfermarkt), has featured in 15 games under Silva, bagging two and assisting one over those games (as per Transfermarkt).
While he has been an ever-present for the Toffees, he only has a 6.63/10 average rating in the Premier League for the Toffees (per Whoscored), leaving many fans unhappy with his form.
However, due to the lack of available cover, many were calling for the Icelandic midfielder to start in a deeper role than usual.
I drop Gylfi to centre mid and put Iwobi 10

Play siggurdson in a holding mid role with Davis, his slow pace won’t affect the game as much and Iwobi CAM

4-3-3, Davies as the No.6, bring Gylfi into the No.8 role and Iwobi in his natural 10 position, for me I’d give Gordon a go on the wing with Walcott being out (don’t think Bernard will be ready)

What do we think?
At a time where Silva needs all of his best players available, due to the mounting pressure on the Portuguese gaffer (per BBC), it seems that his luck is out.
With the injuries that the Toffees have in key areas, it will be interesting to see how the Goodison Park club line up against Brendan Rodgers’ outfit.
