Some Everton supporters have launched a defence of Marco Silva following the recent speculation behind his Toffees career.
Following defeat to Norwich City on Saturday, the cogs of the rumour mill went into overdrive with the suggestion that the 42-year-old gaffer would be shipped out and replaced by Farhad Moshiri (as per The Sun).
However, some fans have found the hounding of Silva across the media and social media to be too much (via Chris Smith) and leapt into a defence of their Portuguese boss.
People need to stop making something out of nothing
Silva has been working 6am-11pm days trying to make this right
Should he still be in the job? Probably not. But he is
He’s also a human being with a family and I’m sure they’re all taking this hard too
Just leave him alone. https://t.co/WTr4IxiQAI

Agreed. While I think his time is up, I’d prefer that while he’s still in the job, that he continues to try and get it right.

100% agree with this

Agree. Things aren’t going as planned but there is no need to get personal and start insulting him.

Do you have sympathy for how Marco Silva has been treated by the media and fans?
Yes
No
The Toffees currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, having won just four of their opening 13 league games so far this term (as per BBC), so there’s not much room for errors from here on in.
Interestingly, the feeling among some supporters was that the media storm surrounding their gaffer from fans and the media had been unfair on Silva.
A rational Everton fan on twitter. Found him! pic.twitter.com/iY0E9wuQIh

Look how unhappy he is there, that must have been horrific for him sat, didn’t deserve what he got sat at the final whistle

Worst person alive until he gets sacked, then he’s “a nice bloke and it’s a shame it didn’t work out”

What do we think?
Football supporters can often be accused of forgetting that, at the end of the day, the managers and players that represent their football clubs are people too.
In part, due to media sensationalisation and dehumanisation of key figures, it does not seem as big a deal to some to launch personal tirades on professionals over Twitter and other forms of social media.
While it is absolutely doubtless that Silva is not doing a good job in Merseyside, the point raised is an incredibly true one.
