Fans of Everton have reacted negatively following a link between the Toffees and Eintracht Frankfurt striker, Goncalo Paciencia.

According to the Portuguese news outlet Record, Marco Silva rates the 25-year-old highly and has made him one of the priority targets for the upcoming window (via Sport Witness).

The Toffees have bagged just 13 league goals in 12 Premier League outings so far this term (via BBC), despite their low number of goals, Everton fans felt Silva should look at options other than the Portuguese striker.

Paciencia has nine goals for the Bundesliga outfit in 23 appearances so far this season, also registering three assists for teammates (per Transfermarkt).

Having netted twice as many as the Toffees’ top scorer in the league in his respective league – six league goals compared to Richarlison’s three (via Transfermarkt) – the £8.1-million rated man has impressed for Frankfurt.

While the Toffees reportedly want to pay €15 million (£12.8m) for their target, the German side will hold out for €20 million (£17m) (via Sports Witness), meaning some Everton supporters felt the deal would hit another stumbling block.

What do we think?

This season, the Portuguese 25-year-old is scoring goals, and what do Everton need? Goals…

Even at Frankfurt’s asking price of £17 million, that does not represent an all too hefty fee in the current climate of the market should he be able to bag for Silva’s side.

However, it may be sensible for the Toffees to ship a few players out before they plunge more money into the transfer market.
