Arsenal completed the signing of William Saliba from Saint-Etienne this summer before agreeing to allow the player to stay in France on-loan for the season. The 18-year-old missed the opening seven games of the season with a hamstring problem but has impressed since his return, keeping clean sheets against both Lyon and Monaco in recent weeks.
The decision to spend such a significant amount of money on a central-defender only to loan him back instantly seemed a strange one but these Arsenal fans remain cautious regarding his performances in Ligue 1.
I’m just going to wait until he plays in the premier league before I get too excited. We’ve been here before with the like of Chamakh and Gervinho. Both had impressive records and ultimately failed.

Whereas others are excited by what they’ve seen of the young defender cannot wait to see Saliba come to London on a permanent basis.

What do we think?
Saliba looks a talented young man and his impressive performances are worthy of the widespread praise he has received. Saint-Etienne have kept three clean sheets in Saliba’s last four starts. Claude Puel currently manages the French outfit and, although his teams in England weren’t necessarily aesthetically pleasing, he’s capable of setting up an effective defensive unit and with Saliba at the heart of it, the greens appear to be on the up!
