Arsenal turned in another disappointing performance during their 1-1 draw with Vitoria S.C. in the Europa League. The result was by no means a disaster given the Gunners are dominating Group F but there’s one particular image doing the rounds on social media that has left supporters bemoaning a lack of creativity.
The passing map doing the rounds on Twitter highlights that the Gunners managed just one successful pass into the opposition’s penalty area and that was Nicolas Pepe’s free-kick from which Shkodran Mustafi opened the scoring.
This is so telling, under emery we never seem to make key passes in the final third. How many times per match do our midfielders attempt assists. Emery is just not the right man!

What do we think?
It didn’t take a pass map to highlight just how poor the Arsenal were out in Northern Portugal but this image has certainly fuelled further anger towards the Spaniard. Arsenal managed just one shot on target in 90 minutes despite having 65% of possession – highlighting the team’s clear inability to get into shooting positions from which they can inflict damage.
Emery’s side conceded 15 shots and the number of attempts their opponents are having has been an on-going concern for quite some time – stemming back to the draw at Watford where Arsenal conceded 31 shots. It’s clear this team are struggling with issues at both ends of the pitch but creativity wasn’t such an issue during the previous management, despite the current manager believing otherwise.
