Arsene Wenger has confirmed Aaron Ramsey wanted to stay at Arsenal and claimed the club “went back on” the deal that was originally on the table. The former Gunners boss was speaking on Bein Sports during their midweek UEFA Champions League coverage and told the panel he “tried a long time to extend his contract”.
Six months on and these supporters still can’t believe the Welshman was allowed to leave and for free!
This cuts deep ?

How many times have we seen our best players stall on new deals, only too leave for a knock down rate? One of our longest serving, technically gifted leaders who had passion for the club. Agreed to the deal, then Arsenal pulled out. Scandalous!

Yet, they gave Xhaka a new long term contract. #jokeclub

Ramsey saved Emery and Club last season.
And I don’t know why Emery or Club didn’t save Ramsey.— Sunny Mok (@SunnyMok10) November 7, 2019
What do we think?
Ramsey was a fantastic servant to Arsenal Football Club. The Welshman scored two FA Cup final winning goals and the 28-year-old will always have a place in the hearts of the Gunners faithful. Many wondered whether Ramsey would ever rediscover his best-form having suffered a horrendous leg-break in 2010 up at Stoke but in fairness, he bounced back stronger than ever.
Italian giants Juventus signed the player on a four-year deal believed to be worth £325k per week and it’s thought they were able to offer such a lucrative deal based on the fact they would not have to pay a transfer fee. Even if Ramsey was keen to remain an Arsenal player it’s difficult to envisage the club matching that contract offer and so he would have certainly been tempted to make the move regardless.
Finances aside, the Gunners lost a player they could do with right now. Somebody with industry, heart and an eye for goal.
